Honest takes, no scores inflated.
An expansion that feels like a full sequel. Shadow of the Erdtree doesn't pull punches — the scaling is brutal, the bosses are the best FromSoft has ever designed, and the new region is hauntingly beautiful. Messmer alone is worth the price of admission.
must play"Just one more run" incarnate. Balatro wraps poker mechanics around a roguelike loop so perfectly that you forget time exists. The synergy discovery is endlessly satisfying — finding a broken build feels like cracking open a cheat code.
must playWorth the wait — mostly. Hornet is a joy to control, the combat is snappier than Hollow Knight, and the new tools feel great. But it lacks the atmospheric dread that made the original so memorable.
recommendedBethesda's RPG formula, stripped of what makes it fun. Fast travel everywhere robs the world of discovery. The loading screens between planets kill immersion completely. 1000 procedurally generated planets with nothing to say.
skipA baffling misfire from a studio that made Prey. Redfall is empty, joyless, and technically rough. The vampire setting had potential; the execution squandered all of it. Not broken enough to be funny, not good enough to enjoy.
